How Much Will It Cost to Paint Your Bathroom?

Illustrative bathroom with freshly painted blue-gray walls, white trim and a white vanity

A fresh wall color and neatly painted trim can make your bathroom feel brighter and more inviting without a full renovation. Before choosing a color, it helps to understand what the painting work includes and which details affect your budget.

For initial planning, professional bathroom wall painting can cost approximately $250–$750. Larger bathrooms or projects involving ceilings, trim, and additional preparation can reach $900–$1,500 or more.

These are general budgeting ranges for labor and standard paint materials, not fixed Brush Strokes and Beyond prices. Your written estimate will reflect your location, room size, existing surfaces, selected products, and agreed scope.

A starting budget for bathroom painting

General planning ranges. Your personalized written estimate sets the project price.
Work requestedGeneral planning budget
Bathroom walls with routine preparation$250–$750
Larger bathrooms or more involved work with ceilings, trim, and additional preparation$900–$1,500+
Vanity cabinets, wallpaper removal, or substantial repairsSeparately assessed and priced

These are different examples of project scope, rather than a price list by room size. A simple walls-and-ceiling refresh may fall between the examples. Ask for an itemized estimate so you can see what is included.

Why a small bathroom still takes careful work

Bathrooms often have less exposed wall space than other rooms, but there are more edges and fixtures to work around. Vanities, mirrors, toilets, tile, windows, and shower surrounds affect access and the time needed to protect surfaces and paint neatly.

Floor area alone does not establish the price. Ceiling height, the amount of painted wall above tile, the number of doors, and the condition of the existing paint all matter. Setup, protection, and cleanup are part of even a small project.

Surface condition can change the estimate

Walls in good condition need a different preparation plan from surfaces with peeling paint, stains, cracks, or old wallpaper adhesive. Share clear photos of these areas when requesting an estimate so they can be reviewed before work is priced.

If there is an active leak or recurring moisture damage, the underlying cause needs attention before repainting. Painting alone does not repair a leak or solve a ventilation problem. Let us know about any concerns when we review your bathroom.

What about the ceiling, trim, and vanity?

Be specific about the surfaces you want refreshed. Walls, ceilings, baseboards, window casings, and doors can be listed separately so you can compare a simple color update with a more complete room refresh.

Vanity cabinet painting is a separate type of work. Cabinet material, the existing finish, doors, drawers, and the preparation required all affect the price. The wall-painting ranges above do not include vanity refinishing, tub or tile refinishing, plumbing, or a bathroom renovation.

Choose a color and finish that suit the space

Look at color samples alongside your tile, flooring, countertop, and existing fixtures. Check them in daylight and under your bathroom lighting before making a final decision.

Discuss the selected paint product and finish with your painter based on the room conditions and surfaces. Your proposal should explain the preparation, any priming, and finish coats included. After painting, follow the selected product’s drying and return-to-use guidance.
